How to Make Your Computer Faster During Start Up

By

Many a time computer users feel that their computers have slowed down and that starting up takes a long time. They are at a loss to find out the reasons and get worried about how the problem can be solved.

There are several reasons for the computers to slow down. Start up Programs - The computer may have many background programs running with the result the memory to run the main programs is not adequate. These programs tend to load automatically at start up and the computer user may not be even aware of it.

Sometimes there are over 100 start up programs, including Windows programs. Many of these programs were, perhaps, installed in the beginning. The users might have forgotten about them because, they are not at all useful.

The basic problem is to locate such unnecessary programs. However, there are several methods to locate them. Windows has a program, known as “MSCONFIG” that will detect many of these "start up" programs.

The procedure involved to clear them is to click "start", run and type MSCONFIG. MSCONFIG is a basic program, which will be useful only when there is limited number of unwanted programs.

Another useful program is “Autoruns”, which is an exceptional Microsoft tool available for free download. However, one has to be careful, when using this tool. It is a powerful tool and along with unwanted programs, some crucial programs may also get removed if proper care is not exercised.

Registry Fixers - Registry is an important area in Windows, where every program is stored. Most of the times, “Remove” program does not remove the entire program during "uninstall" run and some fragments of these programs are left behind resulting in the registry with full of unnecessary programs.

This is bound to slow down the computer because every time Windows has to access the registry, it has to wade through heaps of unnecessary data to locate the desired one. Many computer users find that at least 25 % of the registry is loaded with waste.

This situation can be prevented by running a total "uninstaller". It is much better and cheaper to use a ‘ fixer’. This is something like Registry First Aid, which will remove all outdated material as well as rectify all registry errors which can potentially turn Windows to a slow mode Hard Drives Fragmentation.

There are two aspects in hard drive functioning. Firstly, it is about Hard Drive fragmentation. The data is stored in ‘blocks’. The data file saved in the first block is available for the next and so on. The process can be better understood through a graphical representation. These blocks of hard drive space can occupy the entire hard drive. If "Mom" or “MP3” are loaded, the read/write head has to move all over the disk. If all the Mom and MP3 are arranged in adjoining blocks, the performance would improve considerably. Usually, Windows and the applications create a lot of files. There is "browser cache" writing all varieties of files to the hard drive.

There are also system check points and indexing service Non-contiguous flies are known as ‘fragmentation’ and a tool in Windows that can regroup them into contiguous blocks. The procedure for this is Right click a drive in "My computer", select "properties" , then tools and finally click “Defragmention Now" button.

A clutter free computer is prerequisite for running music and beats mixing software such as DUB Turbo. The application has the ability to convert MP3 to .wav files without quality degradation. Check out the DUB Turbo download page and see what the software has to offer.
